Lovely monster
As a photographer, I’ve learned one really important thing about taking photographs. Use your brain and think about what you want to photograph but also listen to your guts what they tell you. Here and there it happens to me that I notice something and feel the charge right away but I don’t see the result. I used to dismiss such perceptions… Don’t do that, go where it speaks to you no matter how commonplace it may seem, and pay attention. An old agricultural building that spoke to me when passing it in a car brought me to creating the image below. I love it and I’m happy I seized…

Nečtiny
Today I am sharing some of my photos from Nečtiny, the municipality I had assigned to November in my photo project for 2018. 35 photos again, as for all towns in this project. The municipality Nečtiny consists of 12 parts populated by 650 inhabitants. It is an area with long history reaching back to 12th century and several interesting buildings, which are especially the chateau, church of St. Anna, church of St. James with adjacent cemetery and burial chapel of St. Teresa. The chateau was built in the 16th century, rebuilt several times and nowadays it is owned and used as a training and recreation centre by the University of West Bohemia.…

Merry Christmas
I thought I would not create any Christmas post this year but here I am as I could not resist the tugging of the moment. I find the Christmas card I’ve created this time to be soft and peaceful and playful and those characteristics reflect both my feelings and my wishes to you. Enjoy the Christmas time in a peaceful and relaxed way and get all the energy it offers. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Be fearless
Do you pay attention to what words or ideas people can read on your clothes? I love T-shirts of many kinds but I dismissed many of them just because of what was written on their front or back, even though I loved their design. Last week I bought a T-shirt in an Orsay shop. They had it in two variants – one with short sleeves and an image of an owl without any words, the other one with semi-long sleeves and an image of the same owl, but this time with the words BE FEARLESS. I prefer short sleeves to semi-long ones but the words accentuated the image so much…

Nýrsko
Today I am sharing some of my photos from Nýrsko, which is the town that I had assigned to October in my photo project for this year. 35 photos again, as in case of the previous towns. Nýrsko is a small town with about 5.000 inhabitants and long history reaching far back, the first written records refer to 14th century. The town has been known especially for the company Okula that used to specialise in spectacle optics and mechanics. It started its operation in 1895 and still operates. Nowadays it produces rims but also safety glasses and various plastic moulded parts for automotive industry, household appliances, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. You can see…

(In)appropriate
My mother used to tell me that underwear is not to be seen on a washing line and taught me to hang it behind other clothes so that it was hidden. It stuck to my mind so firmly that even after all those years I follow this rule and would feel quite uncomfortable if I had to do otherwise. The rule also made me hesitant about sharing the photo above that I took during one of our photo walks. I love the morning light shining through the laundry and find the image relating a humble story about us humans, despite the inappropriate pants. Or is it the other way around…

Sušice
Sušice is the town that I had assigned to September in my photo project for this year and today I am here to share some of the photos I took there. I opted for sharing 35 photos again, as in my previous posts related to this project. Sušice with its about 11,000 inhabitants is quite a big town featuring the Otava river, buildings both old and new, several churches, a chapel of guardian angel, several factories and plenty of streets to be walked. Many people pass through the town when heading to Šumava mountains to enjoy hiking or skiing. The town itself is even called a gateway to Šumava because it is situated…

Chanovice
Today I am sharing some of my photos from Chanovice, the village I had assigned to August in my photo project for this year. I selected 35 photos again, as in the previous months. Chanovice has just about 720 inhabitants but the first written record that mentions the village dates back to the 14th century. There are several interesting objects in the village. A chateau, whose building has been used as an elementary school and a museum of folk craft; a former farmyard that has been rebuilt and nowadays includes an information centre and a gallery; a Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross; an observation tower; and an open-air museum with exhibition…

Coffee to go
My hubby bought a cup of coffee, put it aside to take some photos of the café and left me alone with the cup. I like coffee but this time taking a photo seemed to be a much better idea than taking a sip…

Castle art
In June, my hubby and I visited the Kašperk castle. We decided to participate in a guided tour to see the insides of the castle once again and to listen to the history of the place. During the tour, I noticed in an inner yard that several of window openings were covered with boards featuring drawings of coats of arms. The drawings were attracting my attention more than the history so instead of listening to our guide I was taking their photos with the aim of processing them somehow back at home. The coats of arms don’t seem real although the “leaves” on the sides resemble a similar decoration in the…
